Are you someone who’s in their late 20s or early 30s that doesn’t fit society’s idea of normal? Perhaps you’re someone that doesn’t have children or you’re not married yet so you’re living on your own. You may feel like there’s something wrong with you.

We’re here to tell you that some people do struggle with certain aspects of their lives and that it’s normal to go through challenges. But by no means does it mean there’s anything wrong with you because of it. In today’s article we’ll give you the top reasons why there is nothing wrong with you.

You’re Not Following What Others are Doing

You may feel like you’re not normal because you don’t have what other adults have at your age such as a partner, children, house, fancy holiday’s or car. But your positions don’t indicate your worth. There is nothing wrong with you.

These are rules that society has ingrained in you to make you feel like you belong. Some people may ask you invasive questions as to such as why aren’t you married yet or why you don’t have children. You don’t have to answer to anyone. As long as you’re living a healthy lifestyle then there’s nothing to worry about.

If you want to have a certain life you can always work towards it. There’s a Green Day song with the lyrics “she’s figured out all her doubts were someone else’s point of view.” This means that most of your self-doubt comes from what other people think or say.

Don’t let others make your life decisions for you based on their views and try not to compare yourself to others. If you decide to live your life according to what you truly want then you’ll be happier for it.

Trying to Live Your Life Based on What’s Expected of You

Some people have strict parents and sometimes these parents try to live through their children. They could force their children to take up hobbies they enjoy or to study what they want their children to study. As you get older you may start to resent those who forced you to be something you’re not.

It can be difficult trying to live up to other people’s expectations of you because you won’t always get it right. And when that happens you may feel like you’ve disappointed the people around you. As a result, you’ll start to feel like there is something wrong with you.

When you live according to what others expect of you then you’re not living an authentic life. Everyone has a choice but sometimes others make your choices for you. When you become an adult you get to decide what’s right for you

That’s why it’s important to be assertive. Saying no to something you don’t feel comfortable with makes you a strong person. Saying no to something you feel is wrong will show that there is absolutely nothing wrong with you.

Putting Your Trust in the Wrong People

Have you ever been gaslighted before? This is an abusive tactic people use to manipulate and control others. Gaslighting is when someone makes you believe that you said something when you didn’t or you did something that you didn’t do.

As a result, you may feel like you’ve gone crazy because you don’t trust your thoughts anymore. However, this simply indicates that you’ve put your trust in the wrong person. That’s no fault of your own. It means that there is something wrong with the other person.

Another scenario is people may try to convince you to do drugs or drink excessively and if you don’t they shun you because you’re not on their “level”. This is simply another instance where you’ve trusted the wrong people and that there is nothing wrong with you.

Always surround yourself with people that inspire and uplift you so that you never doubt your self-worth.

Being a People Pleaser

You may think that never saying no will attract more friends and acquaintances. But being a people pleaser does the exact opposite. You’ll attract those who’ll want to take advantage of you. This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t help people at all but you must know when to be assertive.

There will be people who will make you feel guilty for not doing what they want you to do for them. However, if you lose a friend because you said no to something you didn’t want to do then the person wasn’t a true friend. Your loved ones should be able to take no for an answer without getting offended.

Reasons That Indicates There May Be Something Wrong With You

You Treat Others Badly

If you treat people badly by being disrespectful, gossiping about them or trying to manipulate them then there is an indication there may be something wrong with you. You must always be kind to those around you because you never know what struggles they may be facing.

You Don’t Feel Motivated Anymore

Do you feel fatigued and unmotivated to do your job? You may be craving change in your life. Sometimes your daily routine can make you feel depressed and uninspired. You need to take yourself out of your comfort zone so you can have some variety in your life.

You don’t have to do much to make your life different. It can be something as simple as going to the movies with friends or having lunch with your family. A short break away such as camping or a road trip can also make you feel motivated to do more in your job and other aspects of your life.

You Don’t Want to Engage With People

You may decline invites more often because you don’t want to talk to people. This is one of the symptoms of depression. If you feel like you’re suffering from depression you can consult your doctor for a professional opinion.

Depending on the severity of your depression you may get prescribed medication to help you cope. Other ways to combat depression is to exercise and to eat healthily. Perhaps you can start a fitness group so you can engage with your loved ones more often.

You’ve Lost Interest

If you’ve lost interest in your appearance, your job and the hobbies you’ve always enjoyed then this could be another indication that you’re depressed. When you’re not interested in anything anymore you should try not to force yourself to do anything you don’t have to do.

Simply practice more self-care and try to not stress yourself out. Have a warm bath or shower, eat your favourite foods and relax with your favourite movie or book. Lack of interest could simply be your body’s way of telling you to slow down and relax.
